Gorham High School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative High School Science Teacher to join our team for next year. Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction:

  • Design and implement high-quality math instruction that aligns with state and school standards.

  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate a range of student abilities and encourage personal growth and mathematical literacy.

  • Possess the vision to adapt and scaffold curriculum to ensure all students have equitable access to rigorous high school programming.

  • Deliver differentiated instruction using research-based strategies in a culturally responsive classroom environment.

Assessment & Support:

  • Evaluate student progress using clear, consistent assessment methods and provide meaningful feedback to support academic goals.

  • Monitor student growth regularly to determine mastery of standards and provide additional support or enrichment as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress effectively to families and administration.

Collaboration & Community:

  • Collaborate with department colleagues to integrate mathematical initiatives and cross-curricular opportunities school-wide.

  • Engage with parents, administrators, and community partners to promote the importance of mathematics and student well-being.

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and empowered learning environment where students from diverse backgrounds feel seen and supported.


Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field.

  • Valid Maine State Certification for teaching high school mathematics or eligibility for certification.

Experience & Skills:

  • Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to educational equity.

  • Proficiency with classroom management and research-based instructional methodologies
