Gorham High School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative High School Science Teacher to join our team for next year. Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction:
Design and implement high-quality math instruction that aligns with state and school standards.
Develop lesson plans that accommodate a range of student abilities and encourage personal growth and mathematical literacy.
Possess the vision to adapt and scaffold curriculum to ensure all students have equitable access to rigorous high school programming.
Deliver differentiated instruction using research-based strategies in a culturally responsive classroom environment.
Assessment & Support:
Evaluate student progress using clear, consistent assessment methods and provide meaningful feedback to support academic goals.
Monitor student growth regularly to determine mastery of standards and provide additional support or enrichment as needed.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress effectively to families and administration.
Collaboration & Community:
Collaborate with department colleagues to integrate mathematical initiatives and cross-curricular opportunities school-wide.
Engage with parents, administrators, and community partners to promote the importance of mathematics and student well-being.
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and empowered learning environment where students from diverse backgrounds feel seen and supported.
Qualifications
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field.
Valid Maine State Certification for teaching high school mathematics or eligibility for certification.
Experience & Skills:
Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to educational equity.
Proficiency with classroom management and research-based instructional methodologies
