Below is a short list of websites and organizations which may have some helpful information to support students and their parents through the middle school journey.

Stress management, study skills, staying organized and more:

www.kidshealth.org - Website has separate sections for kids, teens and parents. Topics are broad, and include stress management, staying safe, study tips, bullying and drugs and alcohol.

www.schoolfamily.com - Website has tips for parents to help their kids with things such as studying, staying organized and adjusting to middle school, among others.

Bullying:

www.stopbullyingnow.hrsa.gov/kids - Website is geared towards kids and gives information on what bullying is, and how to handle bullying behavior.

www.antibullying.net - Another website dedicated to stopping and preventing bullying. Information for both parents and students.

Supporting healthy development of girls and boys:

http://www.hardygirlshealthywomen.org - Website for a Maine organization which seeks to empower girls, creating strong, healthy women. Lots of resources for parents and girls alike, as well as calendar of upcoming events/conferences.

www.boystomen.info/ - Website for an organization based in Portland which seeks to reduce interpersonal violence and support the healthy development of adolescent boys.

Career exploration:

www.bls.gov/K12 - Occupational Outlook Handbook, online, for students grades K-12. Helps assist students in linking their interests with possible career options.
